Andrea Barnes conveys her experiences through the color blue, subverting the social structures that exist within gendered objects, and manipulating materials and textures. She utilizes all methods for artistic expression to investigate the gap between the mystical and everyday. 

After graduating from the Maryland Institute College of Art with a focus in Fiber, Andrea returns to her original methods of making through use of childhood imagery, clay, and illustration. By combining her interest in disrupting gendered tropes with whimsical sculpture, Andrea communicates a unique perspective on the dark feminine allowing the audience to freely deconstruct the content.  She currently resides in Philadelphia, PA.
